GOVERNOR’S MONTHLY LETTER AUGUST 2026 Airwaves of Hope: Promoting Maternal and Child Wellness Through Radio By: TLP Ferjen T. Torred "WHEN KNOWLEDGE TRAVELS THROUGH THE AIRWAVES, LIFE-SAVING HEALTH EDUCATION FINDS ITS WAY INTO EVERY HOME." In many quiet neighborhoods, mothers often lay awake carrying an invisible weight—the anxiety of not knowing how best to protect their children. In these underserved communities, access to reliable maternal and child health guidance remains a daunting hurdle. Bound by limited health literacy, families navigate early care, nutrition, and disease detection in the dark. Without a trustworthy guiding voice, preventable illnesses, maternal complications, and undetected health risks continue to cast long shadows over bright young futures. Refusing to let silence dictate these families' fates, the Rotary Club of Kamuning Central stepped forward to build a bridge of hope. Through the Rotary Club of Kamuning Central Public Image and Wellness Information Drive, they transformed airwaves into lifelines. Broadcast across Golden Tiger Radio and digital screens, vital medical wisdom flowed directly into humble living rooms. Guided by compassionate leaders TLP Ferjen, PP Aiza, PP Jeannette, and Chair Aiza Remedios, alongside partners like Simply Nature CEO Zion, a united front was formed. Medical experts— including OB-GYN Oncologist Dr. Bogs Rivera and Oncologist Dr. Jansen Calalan from SimplyHealed Medical Group—sat before microphones to speak not in distant jargon, but in warm, accessible language. They shared life-saving truths on maternal wellness, child nutrition, immunizations, and cervical cancer prevention. The impact was immediate and deeply human. Complex medical advice became a comforting lamp for caregivers, empowering mothers to take proactive control of their family’s health. By connecting specialized doctors directly with everyday households, the drive nurtured an informed, health-conscious community. Today, mothers hold the practical knowledge to shield their children, turning fear into confidence, building healthier households, and weaving a lasting legacy of hope for generations to come.
